Historical Debt Issue
  • Hello,

The two separate collection agencies for those credit card debts set up an agreement to pay a certain amount each month. I was happy enough with this until a couple of weeks ago. I got a letter from a solicitors representing Max Recovery Limited who say I owe £14k ( more than double what the two credit card amounts stand at). I asked for further details and the solicitors tell me that they purchased the debt whilst I was insolvent (not sure of terms but I'm pretty sure you aren't classed as insolvent on an IVA). This at least implies that they bought it that ten years ago (or perhaps 8 years ago when I couldn't pay the IVA payments anymore). Now given that this is the first I've heard about it, I'm guessing the 6 year limit rule would apply. However, what confuses me is if they purchased that debt, why have I been paying amounts to two separate companies for two of the debts?

    Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
